Membership Information
Membership in the Rock Aqua Jays is more than just performing water ski shows. It's about having fun and building lifelong friendships.
Here are some frequently asked questions regarding membership in the Rock Aqua Jays.
| Q: | Do I have to know how to water ski to be a member? | |
| A: | No, you do not have to water ski to be a member. About half of our members actually water ski on a regular basis. Many of our members have crucial behind-the-scenes roles including: concessions, boat driving, sound crew, and much more. | |

| Q: | Are there any requirements to join? | |
| A: | Yes, prospective members must be sponsored by a current or former member in good standing. If not, then potential new members must meet with at least two members of our board of directors. Membership is subject to approval of our board of directors. Prospective new members are subject to a background check because many of our current members are children under the age of 18. There is also a 90-day probationary period. All of this is designed to protect the safety of our current members and the reputation of our organization. | |

| Q: | How much does it cost to become a member? | |
| A: | There are three elements of the membership dues required to become a member: 1) USA Water Ski dues, 2) Wisconsin Water Ski Federation dues, and 3) local RAJ dues. The amount varies depending on the type of membership. Please contact one our Members At Large to discuss the cost membership. |

| Q: | What is expected of me as a member of the Rock Aqua Jays? | |
| A: | You are expected to actively participate in all fundraising, work days, and other activities. Over 80% of our annual revenue comes from fundraising. Therefore, fundraising is the primary expectation of membership. There are also competition rules, codes of conduct, and other requirements that must be met in order to maintain membership in good standing with USA Water Ski, the Wisconsin Water Ski Federation, and the Rock Aqua Jays. | |

| Q: | What opportunities do I have as a member of the Rock Aqua Jays? | |
| A: | You have the opportunity to develop your water skiing skills, become a member of the sound crew, become a boat driver, help with concessions, and so much more. Members are entitled to special discounts on water skiing equipment and exclusive logo merchandise and apparel. Members also have the opportunity for leadership roles as an officer, committee chair, or tournament director. | |

| Q: | Do you have any restrictions on who can become a member? | |
| A: | We welcome membership applications from anyone and everyone interested in becoming a member. The only factor that could prevent someone from becoming a member is a sex crime or some other criminal activity that could endanger the safety of existing members or harm the image of the Rock Aqua Jays. | |

| Q: | Can a person join as a single member or does my entire family have to join? | |
| A: | Those over the age of 18 as of January 1 of the year in which you want to join are welcome to join as single members. A parent or legal guardian must join if anyone under the age of 18 as of January 1 of the current year wishes to join. | |
